Deltagon offers new solutions for managing confidentiality in electronic communication

Do organizations know what and how their personnel communicate electronically outside? Is the management and messaging of confidential material under control and does organizations have the tools to accomplish this?

In the Confidentiality into control - seminar & product launch Deltagon presented a study on the perceptions of information security in e-mail communications. Results indicate that guidelines to the use of e-mail is in order with over 50 percent of the companies but organizations have a strong doubt over how the users actually follow the guidelines because they lack tools for supervision.

In the event Deltagon also published new products that will make it even easier to manage and define information security policy regarding e-mail. When the information security risks in e-mail communication can be managed centralized also information leaks caused by human errors can be prevented more efficiently. In the future outgoing e-mail messages that require confidential handling can be automatically protected based on their content. In addition message traffic can be analyzed with different graphical images and thus getting awareness of the status of e-mail traffic and also enabling follow-up of the fulfillment of information security guidelines.

Information Security Manager Leo Niemelä from the Local Insurance Group (Lähivakuutus) talked in the event about how the Deltagon's new product they've had in test use has been needed. "Nowadays people understand to demand encryption. More problems with receivers is caused if encryption is not used than if a scalable solution is used that secures messages without sender being aware of it", says Niemelä.

In Local Insurance Group the use in ad hoc messaging has almost quadrupled since the automatic protection was taken into use. This is a clear indication that even if the instructions are in order confidential material is sent unprotected and this is where automatic protection comes to the rescue.

With the now published solutions working in Gateway level our client organizations can respond to the information security challenges of e-mail communication even more efficiently than before.
