Sweden´s FRA law has increased Finnish awareness of risks in electronic communications considerably
Finnish company management is very aware of the wiretapping law (FRA law) Sweden approved. When compared to earlier studies, it can be said that with the law also the awareness of the security threats relating to e-mail communication has increased considerably.
Over 87 % of the respondents to the study feel that protecting e-mail is necessary when communicating for example contracts, customer information and personal data. Instead the methods provided by the Act on Data Protection of Electronic Communications (Lex Nokia) to protect company information still haven't been taken to use. These shows up in the recently published study on the perceptions of information security in e-mail communications 2010 that Deltagon Group Corporation commissioned.
The study also shows that management is concerned of the fulfillment of the information security guidelines in e-mail communication and hereby of possible information leaks because they don't have adequate view of the status of information security relating to communication.
"Companies clearly have a need for user friendly security solutions that utilize automatism", states Acting CEO Juha Lappi from Deltagon and continues: "It is also essential that solutions support the goals of business and improves companies' awareness of their own actions".
